Mogly was born in 1998. He was bred in Germany by Josef Borsbach.  As a 3 year old, Mogly was approved as a breeding stallion, being the top prize-winning stallion at his stallion licensing in Aachen Germany! He went through the 30-day performance test, achieving the impressive score of 83%, including scoring 9’s for temperament in all categories of testing.

Mogly stood at stud in Belgium until 2007, when he received approval and commendation from the Belgium Fjord Registry for the quality of his offspring, many of which had been Champions of the Foal Evaluations in Belgium. In summer of 2007 Mogly was imported to Canada by the partnership of Bluebird Lane and Kervan Farm.

Mogly has one of the most international pedigrees of any Fjord stallion. His dam Inka is a States Premium Mare in Germany, a grey daughter of the stallion Illiano. His sire Mosby is a Federal Premium Stallion in Germany, he is by the ster stallion Havstad (Norway) and out of the ster mare Ieasy (Holland), who is sired by the Swedish stallion Toddy out of the elite mare Ulvah. Further back in his pedigree we find some very famous Danish horses.

Mogly’s genetics allow him to sire all five Fjord colours, depending on the mare he is bred to.

At his 2007 Evaluation in Belgium, Mogly received the following scores:

Breed Type 8
Conformation and Muscling 8
Leg Quality 8
Movement 9
Overall Impression 8
“Extra Mention” for Quality

The evaluators’ comments were:

Dutch: Hengst med goed type, goede belijning, goede beenstanden, ruime krachtige bewegingen, goede conditie.

French: Etalon dont le type est bon, bonne ligne supérieure, bons aplombs, allures puissantes et bonne amplitude, bonne condition.

English: Stallion of good type, good topline, good legs, big powerful movements, good condition.

Mogly’s performance test results are equally impressive:

Riding Test A
Driving Test A
30-day Test (2002) 83%
Temperament in all performance tests 9

Thanks to Jenny Barnes at Footnote Farm and Lori Albrough at Bluebird Lane Fjords, Sunnyside Farms and Frontier Fjords now share a substantial amount of frozen semen from Mogly.  We are excited to use it to breed our mares and see what Mogly can do with the cross!  Stand by to see!
