Laurel Rhodes

Board Member – Veterinarian and Director of Small Animal Health

Laurel is a highly qualified and experienced small animal veterinarian with a diverse background and a passion for serving her community.  She is licensed in both Hawaii and Montana and operates a mobile practice in Park County.

Growing up in Normal, Illinois, and traveling to various countries such as Okinawa, England, Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan, Laurel has a unique perspective and cultural understanding that she brings to her work. She studied Interdisciplinary Studies and History at Miami University of Ohio and later, won a Rotary scholarship to study Chinese History at Kyoto University, where she lived and worked in Japan for 7.5 years.

Her love for animals led her to pursue a DVM, which she earned from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she moved to Oahu, Hawaii, where she worked as a small animal veterinarian for 21 years. She later moved back to the mainland to be closer to her family.

Laurel is an avid bicycle rider and an active member of her community.  She serves on the boards of non-profit organizations, and in her free time, she enjoys cross-country skiing and gardening.  She’s excited to share her thoughtful care and kindness with Sunnyside and we’re excited to have her!
